Jochen Wermuth is the Founder of the “Greater Europe” investment funds which have invested over $1 bn in Russia, and CIO and Managing Partner of Wermuth Asset Management GmbH (WAM), the Funds’ exclusive investment adviser and a member of The World Economic Forum’s Community of Global Growth Companies (GGC). Delivering value in an ethical and sustainable fashion in greater Europe, WAM pursues a strategy of activist value-investing in long/short listed equity and debt, private equity, venture capital, real estate, infrastructure, agribusiness and forestry. From 1997 to 1998, Mr. Wermuth was Director for Russian Debt Capital Markets Origination in Deutsche Bank's Global Markets Division, London, seconded to Moscow as a member of the management committee responsible for setting up its fully licensed subsidiary. In this capacity he raised some $8 bn in financing for Russia. Between 1993 and 1997, he participated as an EU and World Bank finance adviser to the Russian Ministry of Finance in negotiations with the IMF and World Bank for $17 bn in budget financing. He also co-founded and headed the Ministry’s Economic Expert Group (www.eeg.ru). In this capacity he prepared economic policy plans, debt restructuring negotiations, the country's first credit rating and its debut Eurobond issue. Mr. Wermuth is a frequent presenter for CNBC’s Squawk Box, where he provides commentary on various economic issues in Russia. He is a member of German Association for Foreign Policy (DGAP), Eurosolar, Rotary Club Moscow International, Young Presidents Organisation (YPO) Greater Europe and Russian chapters and a supporter of Greenpeace. He holds a Master's degree in Economics and a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Mathematics, awarded magna cum laude and with honors, from Brown University and passed his qualifying exams for a Doctorate in Economics at Oxford University’s Balliol College. Jochen’s native language is German and he is also fluent in English, Russian and French.

Michael Ludwig has remained a principal of the firm since inception and was named CEO in November 2011 working mainly out of the Wiesbaden, Germany office and traveling to Moscow on a monthly basis.  Previously, he worked with Wermuth periodically from the firm’s early days as the CFO/COO where he was responsible for the accounting, IT and human resources.  Michael held finance-related positions in the industrial and manufacturing sectors in Germany including time at Deloitte and Touche.  He received his diploma in Economics from the University of Applied Sciences, FHDW Paderborn and his A-levels from the Secondary School of Economics, Paderborn.  Michael is fluent in German and English.

Dieter Wermuth is co-founder of Wermuth Asset Management and the Head of Macroeconomic Research at Wermuth Asset Management. His previous positions include being a member of the portfolio allocation committee of Citibank AG. CEO of the German investment bank of Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co, (then part of Caisse de Depots), Chief Fixed Income Strategist at West LB and Chief European Economist at Tokai Bank / UFJ in Frankfurt and London. Dieter holds a diploma in Economics from Munich University and a Ph.D. in Economics from Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts.

Marina Shestakova, after first joining the firm as an Analyst in 2004, is deputy CIO for listed assets. In September 2006, Ms. Shestakova received the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA). She holds a Master of Arts in Economics with a specialization in Finance from the New Economic School and a Bachelor of Arts (with distinction) in Applied Mathematics and Informatics from Moscow State University. She passed qualifying exams for a Ph.D. in Mathematics at Moscow State University. Marina has worked at Wermuth Asset Management GmbH throughout her studies advising on existing and new investment opportunities.

Michael Hyuk Choi is a German citizen of Korean descent. After joining WAM in 2002, he became Head of the German office of Wermuth Asset Management GmbH and also acts as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. Being in charge of all legal and compliance issues he provides tax and structuring advice related to all investment vehicles. Michael studied at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and received a law degree from the Albert Ludwigs University Freiburg. He is registered as a Rechtsanwalt (attorney) at the bar Frankfurt am Main. His specific interest is in intellectual property rights and European law areas. Before joining WAM, Mr. Choi worked in Germany’s private and public sectors in addition to Korea’s private sector.  He is fluent in German and speaks English and Korean.
